THIRSTY BERNIE – Sports Bar & Grill

My wife, Judy,  has been raving about a place she and her office colleagues frequent for lunch and insisted  I give it a try.  Remember this name: Thirsty Bernie – Sports Bar & Grill. She was right—it’s just plain terrific. While they are known for their burgers, I quickly found out there’s so much more. The burgers are big and taste just like you want a burger to taste. Thirsty Bernie has a menu that offers Bavarian, German, Italian and American dishes and remember, this is a sports bar.  I had an onion soup that just wouldn’t quit and mussels that were the best I’ve ever had. Judy had fish and chips that were perfectly prepared—not too heavy on the coating and not oily. Delicious! We saw many dishes go by our table that looked absolutely scrumptious like the blackened cod, chicken schnitzel, fish tacos and  salads.  There’s also a full bar menu including a wide variety of beers on tap. The wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Overseeing this culinary discovery is general manager Lisa Cedrone who, along with Chef Andrew Cieslowski, are offering up some of the best food  in Arlington. Thirsty Bernie – Sports Bar & Grill is located at 2163 N. Glebe Rd. which is Glebe at Lee Highway. The phone number is 703-248-9300 and check the website at www.thirstybernie.com.ighway.
