THEATER J -- “The Religion Thing”

Theater J in the District has a talented brother and sister team, Renee Calarco (playwright) and Joe Calarco (director) producing, “The Religion Thing.” It’s a funny show—and poignant—about two couples nearing 40 years old, each with their own situations, of course. Patti (Kimberly Gilbert) has found religion and her hubby, Jeff (Will Gartshore) has other serious sexual issues he has mostly resolved. The other couple, Mo (Liz Mamana) and Brian (Chris Stezin) hasn’t had kids and he’s not in a hurry. Conflict, but funny, nevertheless. Wonderful, first-class acting drawing the Theater J audience into their lives. Joseph Thornhill plays many roles in this gem—especially an opening sort-of-standup thing. See “The Religion Thing” which runs through the 29th. Call 202-777-3230 for information and 1-800-494-TIXS for tickets. Check the website at www.theaterj.org.
